I haven't been here for a while .... I wish I could say it's good to be back! No offence anyone, I've previously recieved alot of help from here and knew this was where I had to come for more of the same.
I've a long history of both cervical and lumbar problems, I have 2 artificial discs in my neck and last year had further surgery for foraminal stenosis. I've also had 3 laminectomies and a discectomy in my lower back. I have regular radio frequency ablation for worn facet joints and have also recently had some diagnostic epidurals in my neck and lumbar.
Last Tuesday I went to hospital to have one of these epidurals, the person I saw wasn't my surgeon, we talked about what I was having done and he told me that I had a cyst in my fact joint (L4-5). This came as a surprise to me as I had been told my last mri showed a disc prolapse. He couldn't tell me anymore about it, I wont get to see my surgeon for another 6-8 weeks. I've been having the usual stenosis symptons which makes me think that the cyst must be pressing on the nerves.
A cyst in the facet joint is a new one to me, has anyone here had any experience of this? I'm assuming they will have to remove it, what's the procedure, what can I expect .... help???
PS I'm 'only' 49
