SI Bone ifuse scheduled 4/15

Hey y'all! Well finally after 5 years of injections, PT torture, chiropractic, pills, more injections, more pills, crying and praying, I'm finally going for the SI-Bone iFuse surgery, which was not available when all this started 5 years ago. I want to get back to hiking, kayaking, sailing, and boating not to mention my painting career which afforded me quite a nice lifestyle (sailing in the Virgin Islands for a few weeks a year which is what I used to do for a living many years ago). I'll hop around on this forum searching out patients who have had this procedure and I'd love to hear from anyone who's had this gizmo installed in their butt as well. Meanwhile I have an excuse to be a couch potato for March Madness (Go Duke!)

Thanks in advance for anyone's input!

  • Can I ask where are you located and who is doing your procedure. As of now do you know what your restrictions are going to be after the procedure? At 4 weeks post-op I got my hands on a set of Post-Op Activity Guidelines from SI-BONE which start the day of the procedure by suggesting you use ice while at the hospital. Your doctor and the hospital should know about this but there is less then a 33% chance that anyone will give it to you and a 90% chance that it won't be till the following morning. Take my word for it that's it's better to be safe then sorry so when you wake up please ask for ice. Then ask again and again till they get the message LOL and hopefully they will just bring it to you without asking. I also found Recommendations for the First Three Weeks Post-op SI Fusion ( or fixation) Surgery" which I have added some comments to better fit the iFuse procedure. I'm here if you want any detailed information about the procedure and or post-op. The following are links to my story and 2 out of 9 of my friends who recently had the procedure.
