no relief from morphine in my pump .ideas on dif med

  • There are only certain medications that can be used within the pump and catheter otherwise they can cause serious damage to the pump itself or the catheter used to send the medication into the spinal fluid. You need to discuss the options with your PM doctor that services and maintains the pump to see what combinations or other medications they recommend.
How long have you had the pump and what is the concentration of the morphine? They should have had a starting dose plan from the intial testing done prior to the implant of the pump? Have you had any dose adjustments made since the implant? It may be that you have not reached the right dose yet if you recently got the pump implanted and I'm sure that it was explained to you that it can take some weeks and months to titrate up to the right dosage to obtain optimal pain relief once the permanent implant is done and healed.
