So long story short I'm trying to get surgery having been in pain and getting more and more physically limited for nine months now and having tried every conservative treatment with no long term results. My MRI has shown a mild disc bulge at C7-T1 which I have been trying hard to convince the doctors IS the cause of the pain since all the symptoms follow the C8 dermatome, etc. They have not wanted to listen because of the fact that the MRI says the words "mild" and "minimal" and all.
But the neurosurgeon I recently saw, though he did send me back to PT and try to blame it on my muscles, he was intrigued enough by my symptoms to send me for a new nerve conduction study and EMG which I had done this morning. Finally, something comes up positive for what I've been saying. The doctor found evidence of C8 nerve compression while doing the EMG part of the test. So I will be going back to the neurosurgeon and seeing another for a second opinion with all of these facts in tow. Finally a good case backing me up. Finally I feel like there's some hope.
Microlaminectomy and discectomy at C7-T1 on April 26th.
