buttock pains after discectomy

I am now 9 days post op from an L5S1 disectomy and was wondering if anyone has woken up from surgery and had the terrible buttock pain still present? Day 9 and its still there.. I'm wondering if I'm going to recover as the pain is worse then pre op.

  • Yes I had alot of buttock & hamstring pain after surgery. Alot in the first week and again worse as I started weening off the meds. Do not hesitate to call your surgeons office. Usually a nurse can talk to you to answer questions. But it is very early in your recovery so it is probably normal.
L5S1 REMOVED herniation. Years of pain & compression. Microdiscectomy complete!! Trying to be super smart & safe with recovery!
