L3-4 and L4-5 Microdiscectomy scheduled 4/25. What to expect for recovery?

Just wondering if anyone out there has had a two-level Microdiscectomy? I have a sitting job (therapist). Wondering what a typical day early in recovery will be like? How much time off of work? I have kids, not young ones, but a full house of school agers. I had an ACDF 2 years ago? Can anyone compare/contrast the procedures? Any preparations I should make?

I experienced a "honeymoon" period immediately after surgery. This was because the anesthetics were still in effect for a short time afterwards, I felt nothing but joy. I had been in so much pain for a long time previous, that being pain-free was a novel feeling.

I took a couple weeks off and then came back part-time light duty. It took me a good 6 months to get all my stamina back.

The first 3 weeks are crucial for the disc's annulus to scar closed. No bending, twisting, lifting, coughing, gagging, retching, straining in the bathroom while sitting (if you know what I mean), sneezing, carrying stuff, nudging, dragging, pushing, running, jumping, etc etc

Do you know what version of microdiscectomy the surgeons will use on you?

Thanks, Paul. I felt that was after my neck surgery! until it all wore off and then the whole first year was dedicated to healing. So I should be asking what version...what else? Thanks for your time.
