Mine is a bit embarrassing but since I don't know anyone here I'll post my experience. I was post surgery about 2 days taking oral pain meds when I sat down to take my morning dump as I had a pretty bad stomach ache. Anyway I knew I had to poop but nothing was moving and even though I knew better I began to push which was highly painful, so now I had a very large turd that could not fit it's way out and I couldn't now stand up because of the pain that it was causing. My wife was still in bed or I think at that point I would of had her take me to the ER, but I waddled into the kitchen and took the maximum dose for an entire day of epsom salts, which is awful, I had to sit in the bathroom for 2 and a half hours before things began to move. Not to be too gross but it took several flushed and a plunger to get things moving through the pipes. Lesson learned-take your laxatives post surgery.

  • My mother introduced me to Smooth Move tea a long time ago. The ingredient that makes you go regular is Senna. While I was recovering from my ACDF C4 - C7 surgery, I'd drink a cup at least every other day, if not once a day. It seems to be a bit more gentle plus, the taste is not bad, even by itself. You can buy it in most grocery stores. I order mine online. I always have half my order shipped to my 87 year old mom. Funny side note...one of my aunts always gives thanks to God everytime she poops!
  • I have found the difficult and painful and very messy way too. My doc prescribes me laxatives. If I did not take them I dont think I would ever go.
Yes not going is extremely painful. Then when you do go it is even more painful
