2 yrs painful left leg sciatica, L5-S1 extrusion on right side

MommymicMMommymic Posts: 22
I have had 2 yrs of bad left leg pain at night. My primary Drs said leg pain was muscular and to stretch. After 7 mths of Chiro treatment she sent me for MRI. My results were a prominent 1 cm disk extrusion at t11-t12 and extrusion at L5-S1 that contacts and displaces S1 nerve bundle on right side. I am going for emg soon and going to pt. I now take Vicodin at night for leg pain and melatonin (to sleep). My question is if right S1 bundle is displaced why is my left leg so much in pain at night? Also is surgery a option or last worst case option only? Any advice? Thanks! Michelle
