Hello, I am a new member

I am somewhat confused on my actual diagnosis. Some bulging and bone spurs at C5-C6 with nerve compression. Pain has changed my lifestyle. Have done therapy, traction and epidural injections. My latest visit to a neurosurgeon was basically not severe enough for surgery, maintain what I am doing to "get by". Not satisfied with that answer.........

  • While surgery may not be the answer, I doubt I would take the opinion of merely one surgeon.
I saw three different surgeons who gave three different surgical solutions to my neck issue.

At least, if you see another one or two surgeons - perhaps an orthopedic surgeon, you will receive a different opinion - one that actually provides a real solution.

Welcome - and keep us posted!

One must understand that a surgeon does not make money if he does not get his knife out. I have endured 20+ years of spinal problems including bulging discs, foraminal stenosis, endplate changes. I have always taken the conservative approach to my treatment. When they mentioned surgery and fusion I did not walk away, I ran. Some joints can be replaced, knees and hips but, you will only have one spine.
I got frustrated seeing surgeons myself and found myself a neurologist, one with a PhD is best IMO.
Good luck in your quest for a resolution. Could this be related to a particular job you do or a sport you have been involved in? Car wreck? Keep you a paper trail or little black of all doctors, and visits and treatments etc. This will aid you in the long run. If you are ever faced with disability this paperwork will save you time and will be as valuable as gold.
