Fusion on Thursday

Well I am getting so scared. My L5-S1 posterior fusion is Thursday. I had a 2 level fusion in 2007 that was an anterior approach. Complete nightmare recovery. Anything that could go wrong, did. So I am not looking forward to this. At all. Even though it is a different surgery in a way, so scared. All the posts on what to have at home have been such a huge help. And I am definitely prepared. Just not mentally. :(

DDD 2 level ALIF L3-L5 in 2007. 4/11/13 posterior fusion w/decompression on L5-S1.

  • I had an L 4 5 Fusion that was awesome. I got excellent relief in just 2 weeks. Before that I had a Laminectomy that went to all H#8%. I suffered terribly for 8 months and swore I would never have another surgery again, but then had great success w/ my fusion.
Each time I was in the hospital 4-5 days, so remember not to go home too fast, as we dont have pain pumps at home:0 sooo, try to take advantage of that.
Good luck and keep us all posted.
  • I am fixing to have to have a fusion L5-S1 after 2 micro that were not successful. I am nervous as well. Let me know how you do.... If you don't mind.
  • Good luck tomorrow and don't worry .Everything will be fine.We will be waiting to hear from you after surgery.Think good things and don't worry kathy
