I've had this L5-S1 herniation for about four years now, with little help from my doctors. I have intense pain radiating down my left leg constantly and cannot tie my own shoes, sit down for a long period of time, ect. It's pretty much constant, and even hurts when I'm laying in bed. Working is almost unbearable - but I'm not on disability.
So, I already tried: physical therapy, pain medication, epidural, chiropractor, and stretches.
None of which worked.
My insurance company declined an out-patient non-invasive microdiscectomy... they said it was experimental... which I'm really upset about.
Question is, where do I go from here? What other surgeries are there for herniated discs?
