Ice and heat best way to treat sciatica over large area

Having some intense sciatic pain in my hip and leg, most of leg hurts. I never quite know where to put the ice when it hurts all over. What have you done?

  • Usually the sciatica is caused by a problem in the lower back. Try icing the lower back and have heat on the hamstring area.
L5S1 REMOVED herniation. Years of pain & compression. Microdiscectomy complete!! Trying to be super smart & safe with recovery!

Thank you, always wondered and the physical therapist, who was terific was a bit vague on this. I do have stenosis of the lumbar spine, so thats where it is coming from, but the legs sometimes feel the most of the pain. And the rear just below the lower back, so it feels like back pain.
some hamstring stretches and a little ROM helped the pain too.
