weaning off pain meds after Posterior Cervical Fusion

Just 13 days post op, 10 days from hospital d/c from C3-7 PCF after failed fusion ACDF 10/2012,. I am in so much pain and seem confused by the "team" as to what a normal titration time frame is regarding pain medication. I had issues with pain control which delayed my d/c by a day as well as unable to void and then sent home with foley, all which clearly contribute to the trickiness of the pain medication titration issue. . I was d/c on Dilaudid 2mg 1-3 tabs every 3hrs as needed, titrate as directed. Started Oxycodone 5mg 2tabs every 4-6 hrs as needed "call if dosing inadequate." This second rx was in attempt to decrease to have foley removed as all felt the stronger pain meds would not allow me to void. I am having to use 3 oxycodone every 4-6 hours with baseline pain control of 4-7/10 depending. Pain has improved in the time I've been home but I am beginning to feel so burned out from chronic pain. Literally carrying my left arm as letting it hang is unbearable. Any thoughts or input appreciated

we hope to at least have the pain radiating into our arms reduced or completly stopped. That has not happened in your case? Where else are you having pain? 13 days is still a very recent surgery but mnay of us have had the arm pain resolved right after/during surgery (some of us have had it return or not go away).

Have you had any follow up exams as of yet? Or discussed your status with your surgeon?

    With Concern,
