Still having nerve pain after L5S1 Fusion

I am new to Spine-Health, but have been reading these for the past year and seems that there are some great help discussing issues with others who are going through or have been through similar issues. Well, mine is one I hope others have had and can help with!! So here it goes....I had a herniation of the L5/S1 in July 12 that caused major sciaticia pain in my left leg, PCP sent me to a NS and had a discetomy at L5/S1 in Aug 2012. Things went well until I started PT, I went through with one therapist until my last visit, this one bent me like a pretzel and things went down hill from there. Went back to NS and ordered another MRI, showed the disc collapsed and went forward with fusion in Dec 2012. The issue is now I am 5 months post op and still having nerve pain. MRI showed nothing and all is well. Going through therapy with stretching and moved to some weight lifting. My big issue is I cannot straighten my leg completely and cannot lift when I am laying down flat on back, only able to lift about 6 to 8 inches without sharp sciaticia pain shooting down leg. I go back to NS this week, not sure of what will come about. My employer has made a lifting requirement for me to return to work and it is ability to lift 50 pounds 15 times a day. I am walking better, but still with a limp and sometimes dragging my foot too. Also, while walking I have had a sharp pain that goes in front of my left thigh to my inner knee to my inside of my foot, it has taken me to the ground as well. Guess that with all this babbling I have been doing someone might have some directions or some insight to what is going on or just some insight in general..
Thanks in advance!

  • Hi. I've had a double fusion, s1/L5. I had my op in October 2012 so I am 6 months post op. I have had pain in my left leg since my op plus, worse than my leg, is foot pain. It's always there. Somedays really bad, other days I feel maybe its going.
    Does anyone else suffer this?
It must be awful jrtcm, that your foot and leg are not only very painful but dragging and the MRI showed nothing!! What did the consultant say? Did he say it will go away in time?? I do hope these pains are just mending pains!
