L4-5 Fusion Recovery

I am new to this board. I am looking for some information regarding my fusion surger recovery. I am 31 years old and had my first back surgery lin Oct. of 2012. I had a diskectomy, laminotomy, and foraminotomy. I am a nurse and went back to work about 8 weeks after that surgery and reputered my disc again at L4-5 shortly after returning back to work. I then had my fusion at L4-5 and they also removed scar tissue that was displacing my left nerve root in Jan. 2013. It has been a hard recovery. I am feel so much better than before surgery until I returned back to work this week. I have been going to physical therapy everyweek for the past 6 weeks. Started back to work this past week. I was previously an OB nurse that also had to work Med/Surg and where ever they were short staffed if we did not have patients. I worked at a small rural hospital. I switched positions to a doctors office. I love it, but my body is saying otherwise. I am so sore and stiff when I get off work. My entire body hurts. I am having increased pain in my back and my legs. My bottom has continued to hurt since surgery. My muscles are tight in my bottom and is irritating my nerves on left side. Therapy is working to help relieve the muscle tightness. I work M-F, 8-5. I am still under restrictions. I can only walk and sit at work. My physician did not lift the restrictions of bending, twisting, etc. until I see him in June. I just want to know what others expierenced at 13 weeks post fusion and if this is normal.

I went back to work (teaching) from fusion at week 8. I was still in a brace and on a walker/cane... I can't say every day got better, but every week did. I felt like the pain was worth it as I'm not a home body. I was careful about not lifting/twisting, etc. I kept in close contact with the surgeon and surgical nurse. Everyone heals different and everyone has a different tolerance of what they are comfortable enduring when it comes to work. I also continued doing physical therapy after work, and I found that my physical therapist was able to address a good portion of my pain through different stretches. I'd say for week 13 you are doing great. Hope you have a great follow up visit in June.
33yo mom of two. My surgical history...preadolescence scoliosis, kyphosis, and a hot mess.... 5 spine surgeries and lots of items added I wasn't born with (titanium, peek, surgical steel). Guess cremation is out. TSA loves me.
