I discovered the other day that for the first time ever, I could wrap my pinkie and thumb around my right (dominant) wrist and have them touch (can't do this on my left wrist). A week later, I can see a significant size difference between my right forearm and its counterpart.
My surgeon told me a month ago I needed another cervical surgery soon due to adjacent segment disease, this time an artificial disc replacement instead of another fusion and corpectomy (performed 2012). He did not say when I would have this surgery. I scheduled another appointment Tuesday, 2 months sooner than he told me to schedule due to pain. Now that my arm is losing its muscle tone so rapidly, I am glad I did. Still, I am freaking out here. Has anyone ever experienced muscle loss, wasting, or atrophy from a bulging disc, stenosis, or mass effect (I have all of the above)? If so, what happened? Did you have surgery, PT, did the muscles return?
