Hi All,
Have had neck pain and issues for 10 + years. Last year had a headache for 3 months or so. MRI showed 2 herniated discs with spinal cord compression. Tried PT for a while. Headache eased. This December developed right sided chest pain on breathing. Had chest rads. Diagnosed with pneumonia and put on meds. No relief, second round of antibiotics and pred. No relief. Sent for CT with contrast to rule out clot, no clot. Trip to ER with excruciating pain right shoulder back and chest. ER Doc says never had pneumonia... It's atelectic lung due to cervical radiculopathy. Large doses of pred and surgery recommended. Already scheduled for PLIF L5/S1 June 12th for severe DDD and arthritis from an injury that caused a herniated disc and an avulsion fracture of spine. Neurosurgeon also wants to do 2 level cervical fusion after!! 2 bad flare up since with pain, numbness and weakness both sides of neck and arms. Still can't take a deep breath without pain. Scared of both surgeries scheduled this summer. Anyone else?
