Micro discectomy at 7am today

This is my first visit to this site. I have disc protrusion at L5 S1, along with a few bad cervical discs, which have had me on pain meds for years. I've tried the injections several times. They usually only helped for a few weeks, and it was minimal. When I had my last set, my spinal fluid was punctured, got the spinal headache, and I had to lay flat for four days before being given a blood patch (never again). I think I actually heard someone say, "oops". In about three hours I will be having the micro discectomy done on the L5 S1 to relieve the absolutely terrible pain in my right leg. I have high hopes that this will work, but I'm starting to get nervous that I might be trading one pain for another. My job requires me to be very active. Most of the time, I'm limping around making the best of it. Can anyone tell me if this surgery could make me more susceptible to be reinjured? I just don't want to end up worse than I am now if I push myself too hard. Thank you for any advise you can give.

  • By the looks of it you went in yesterday morning. I hope all is well. I hope you came out already feeling better. I had a lot of improvement right away, but also a lot of pain from the fact it was surgery. A long road ahead. Good luck.
