surgery ACDF rescheduled for 6/21/13

my surgery was initially scheduled for 6/14 but moved back to next Friday 6/21. I have taken these extra days to prepare home for recuperation. magazines, iPad, tv remove, DVD recordings. cases of bottled water, jars of applesauce, instant oatmeal. comfort foods for later as throat recovers. baby wipes and facial wipes within reach. while my husband works out of state, he will be here for 2 to 3 weeks while I cannot drive. my little dogs are used to me picking them up but that will be off limits (one weight 20pounds, the other 10) for a time. but they can get on my lap orlando bed for pet therapy. I have easy-wear clothing easily available.

if you have any other suggestions or ideas to help prepare, I would greatly appreciate it!

  • Hi...welcome...how did your surgery go ? Can u tell how u feel yet ?
  • Yes, was wondering how you are feeling after ACDF surgery? I had ACDF surgery on June 17th on C4-6. Prior to surgery had 2 herniated disc, bone spurs, spondylolisthesis, stenosis, and acute Myelopathy. The whole left side was very weak, unable to hold glass or grip anything, couldn't stand on left leg it would buckle when walking. Had numbness pretty much everywhere. The cord compression was pretty bad and surgeon said 50/50 if I could get strength back, but could stop progression. It is one weak post op and I can hold a glass and stand on my left leg. Am so happy for that. My neck muscles in back of neck and shoulders are getting better every day. I feel like the surgery was a success. I hope that you have a successful recovery too. Cathy
