Pain returning in week 5 after a disectomy ?

I had a disectomy 5 weeks ago on L5. I have been totally pain free untill last night. I now have lower back pain, pain in but & left hip and all the way down my leg into the foot. The same as before but not as severe. I sneezed this morming and had the same old pain shoot down my leg. Today i am lay flat and have noticed i am loosing power when walking up the stairs. Could this be a reherniation or just post opp pain ? It is really concerning that i have been totally pain free up to this point and now feels like im going backwards. This had just appeared out of the blue !!

I suggest you call your surgeon or surgeon's office and let them know what happened. There could be an explanation, but it is concerning.
    4 level ACDF C4-C7 5-2-11, laminectomy & discectomy L4-L5 1/26/12, ALIF L4-5, L5-S1 12/10/12.
  • Sneezing, especially after a micro discectomy can damage the disc, especially since it has only been 5 weeks since the surgery. Loosing power to lift your foot is also concerning so I would call them tomorrow.
Let us know how you make out.
