Yoga after a lower laminectomy

Today I received some awful news,
About 2 1/2 months ago I got a lower laminectomy and a
Discectomy. Today I went to see my physical therapist
For the first time since the surgery and he told me I
Would never be able to go back to yoga.
In addition to being a social worker I am also a yoga
Therapist and teacher. These news broke my heart:(
Does anyone have encouraging news-perhaps they know
Of someone or they themselves practice yoga?
Many thanks,

  • I have a 3 level lumbar fusion.....I was wondering the same thing. I would think yoga would be beneficial. Especially for core strength.

  • and other excercise programs need to be cleared with your surgeons before returning to them. I would either make an appointment to discuss this with them in person or call the office and ask for them to call you. Any excercise program undertaken with spine surgery needs to be cleared first , otherwise you are taking chances in messing up the outcome of your surgery.
