New to this site. Stumbled upon it with a desire for knowledge. I have had a lower back problem since 1995. I had a double discectomy in 1995 after an industrial injury.
Last year i had another accident at work, injured my back again !!!!! god i sound injury prone. I have had lower back surgery recently waiting to see if it works.
Sorry it is only a brief introduction.
But i can only sit for 10 mins or so at the moment and then stand up, you know the score.
I have foot drop and wear an AFO brace.

Anyways hello to everyone.

  • Welcome to the site. Sorry to hear that you got hurt again. I know how that feels. I have had two bad falls with a MVA in the middle, all of which kept re injuring the same place in my lumbar region so I can definitely sympathise with you.

If you don't mind sharing - what sort do surgery did you have? How long ago? Was the foot drop as a result of the surgery, the accident or a previous issue from your earlier procedure?

Re the AFO - I know how much fun they are. I also have a foot drop and at the moment am wearing a "blue rocker". Hoping that yours is a temporary issue and that the AFO doesn't turn into a permanent feature. Also wishing that mine was only temporary but, alas, not the case. Orthopedics is currently designing a new AFO for me because my foot not only drops but it twists when it goes down and so I keep breaking my AFO's. I also have a cane because my quads and glutes are affected so my knee gives out really easily. Anyway - enough about me ... This was supposed to be about you!

We have a thread going called "July surgery buddies". I am part of that group because I am going in for SCS permanent implant surgery in about 10 days. If your surgery was recent we would love to have you as a part of the group. We are all there to support and encourage Each other both prior to our surgery and throughout our recoveries. There's one of these groups created each month so even if it wasn't in July you might find one that suits you better.
