having side effects to corticosteroid neck injections

I had my first ever corticosteroid injections in my neck on thursday and immediately after i woke up from the anesthesia i was crying in pain. My neck was swollen and bruised. I could not sleep that night or eat and i was throwing up all night. Today is saturday and i still have bately eaten i am extremely tired and the pain has been so severe no amount of pain medication has helped. I also just noticed i am running a fever. This is ridiculous and the doctors do not think its a big deal. My neck and head pain is now worse then before and i canceled all of my future shots. I have also noticed extreme mood swings. I am so angry frustrated and i am just an emotional wreck still, has anyone experineced this as well? Is a fever a sign i should go to the emergency room? Could this mean i am alergic to the steroids or is my body just having a bad reaction. The doctor told me i should be all better a day after but three days after i can still barely move my neck. I feel like i am being stabbed with a screw driver and ice and or heating pad is not helping either.

Call the doctor office immediately! Call the on call doctor if it is night or the weekend. It does not sound normal based on what they told you.

You might need a CT scan so they can see if anything is seriously wrong. Luckily they so not screw around with head trauma or head issues. Good luck and go to get treatment ASAP.
Chronic pain since 2007. Have scoliosis. Had ACDF surgery for C5 Dec 2011. Sick of dealing with pain. I just turned 32 and struggle through but work full-time in IT.
