Foot swelling after surgery.

I had an L5 S1 microdiscectomy about 7weeks ago. I am having cramps in my hamstring and have noticed my foot is swollen. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know what could cause this?

  • Hi. I had a diskectomy L4-5. Within 48 hours I was back in hospital because left side of disk had herniated. After the fusion, my left leg was very swollen. My foot is still swollen and the docs don't know what's goin on...nerve damage is most likely. As far as your foot, I would keep on your neurosurgeon and your primary care doctor. It could be some other condition that surgery brought out or at least that's what my doctor said. Although I am losing hope and faith in my doc...my fusion was May 5th and I am still in constant pain. At one point, I had 20 lbs fluid in my legs and feet...so now I have to see a cardiologist...
Good luck...keep on the doctors. I ended up in hospital cause nobody told me percocet is notorious for totally zapping your appetite. Got really sick and couldn't keep even water down. After two days of that, went to hospital and they admitted me and almost put a feeding tube in...I think I was at 76. I am only 4'11" and I'm Korean so small build anyway, but ...
Keep in touch if you want...it's nice to talk to people...I've basically been stuck in my house for months...can't drive...don't know more than one or two people in this town, and they aren't close enough to see me at my worst...
Talk to ur doc...keep bugging them, especially if you are in pain...
Hope your foot goes down and you have no further issues...
