Pain pump

Hi folks,
Hope all are having a good night!
just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new pain pump patient. Just had it implanted 11 days ago.. I am struggling a bit, with side effects of pump itself or surgery.
I also am not feeling pain relief yet as my doctor believes in starting very low dose on the pump meds and going up slowly. He is conservative, but based on what Ive learned in all my research I can understand why.
Thank you Pat and everyone for all the info..So kind of you to post your experiences and knowledge.

I see the latest post about pump dates back about a year. I was wondering if anyone out there is still interested in posting about pumps?
Im looking for some encouraging info as I must admit it has been a long haul for me- 7 years of pain (the worst being the past 2 years or so.)
Im trying to keep a positive outlook ... and can't wait to get back to my life as a wife and mother of 3 great kids..
Thanks and best wishes to all!

You have obviously been suffering with pain for a long time. You are very welcome here and will find that there are lots of us here who are friendly and will listen and support you.

I don't have any experience of a pain pump, but I have had lumbar and cervical fusions.
There are members who have pain pumps and it sounds like you have already spoken to Pat and some others.

I hope that once your dose is settled, you will have excellent pain relief and can enjoy your life as a wife and mother again.

    Good luck! :-)

You may already have read these, but here they are anyway:

I have heard that there is a recall on Medtronics Pain Pump but don't really know much information about that. Perhaps it is something you should look into.

    Hi everyone
Thx for the kind welcome and the links to info about pain pumps ..Thx also for the recall info ..I will check with my medtronics rep on that.
I appreciate the kind wishes....If i wanted to check into any more recent pain pump discussions (the discussions I saw stopped over a year ago) do I just create a new post with the subject " pain pump" and ask if anyone wants to discuss this?
I learned a lot from reading the older posts bud didn't reply since the latest post was in Spring 2012 approx..
    Thanks again!

Hopefully someone else with experience of a pain pump will come and post here. However, as this is in the new member area, perhaps it would be better to start a new thread in the Pain Management area. That is likely to be where others with experience of pain pumps may be hanging out.

I hope you find others to talk to. :-)

I have just found this thread, not a lot of information here but someone who is investigating pain pumps that you may like to talk to.

    and another:

This is old but has a lot of information. The Medtronics Pain Pump has obviously been recalled before. The member's names with (Not Verified) after their name are generally no longer members.

  • Hi
