I'll try and keep this short. I'm 26 a husband and a father of 3 beautiful children (6,3,1). Before the car accident in 12/08/12 I was doing so-so from my fusion at L5-S1(08/2011). I worked as a technician (mechanic) for a dealer and that line of work is killer on your back. After the accident I did all of the conservative treatment. My last surgeon suggested a fusion but wanted a discogram first. I did the test and when it came back as an L3-L4 grade 3 annular radial tear and an L4-L5 grade 3 annular radial tear. When I had my follow up he said I needed a "long fusion" (L3-S1) but that he didn't want to on such a young person and that "I don't need to make another appointment", which I found to be BS after he sent me to the discogram for basically nothing at that point. I found a new surgeon to give me a second opinion on my back. I gave him all my tests and scans and then he came in and did an exam. After the exam he ordered a myelogram to be done. That was done this past Wednesday and I have been in excruciating pain since. His office called me on Thursday and they told me he saw quite a few issues with my back after the test. I let the nurse know that I was in a lot of pain and so she asked the doctor about it and gave me a call back. When she called back 30 minutes later she told me he thinks I need to be on bed rest until Tuesday, which was when they moved my appointment to, she told me that I need surgery ASAP and that Tuesday was a "consult" visit and he would tell me what he found and explain why he decided on which surgery he will do. Originally he said a microdiscectomy but now I have no idea what he found and I am extremely anxious, can't sleep, and in a lot of pain.
1.) Has anyone had a two level micro or is that even possible?
2.) What one would you think he want's to do?
3.) What is recovery time for a micro?
4.) I am thinking he want's to do a fusion but I'm not sure, I just want my leg and back pain taken care of so I can live a normal life again(or as normal as can be with a bad back lol)
Thank You in Advance!
