I have been lurking/reading this forum for about a month and have felt so relieved to see so many people sharing their experiences that have some similarities with my own.
I am 24(25 in October). I have a herniated/bulging disc in l4(or L5 not exactly sure which...it is in my lower back). I have been suffering from this pain since I was 18. After months of PT and several different injections I had a micro dissectomy surgery 8 months ago. Sadly, it did not do much for the constant pain I have in my legs(more pain in my right leg) and did nothing at all for my back(which was predicted).
I have gone to a neurosurgeon, and after not being able to see anything apparently neurologically "wrong" with me I have been send to a Pain Management center here in Lower Alabama.
I recently had a non-steroidal injection(different from past injections I believe...and I was kept awake during the procedure for the first time...which was awkward/uncomfortable to say the least). The doc says it was more of a test...to make sure it was indeed nerve issues. Which it was, as the pain went down by about 50% for a day or so. The doc says that with more injections, we may be able to get the pain down further...but personally I am very cynical/pessimistic.
I take 3 - 10/325 Norcos, 2 - 225 Lyrica, and a Xanaflex at night.
Happily married to a beautiful wife who helps me everyday through the pain.
Next to the pain...the worst part is how parts of my family feels I just need to take Yoga/chiropractor/lose weight/exercise(I'm 200 pounds), get off the pills, and the pain will magically disappear.
I think I've rambled enough...I look forward to being a part of this community!
