I am a 24 year old female and have been experiencing pain in my back for 7 months. The pain really is agony - located around my right shoulder blade mainly, in between the shoulder blade and the spine.
The best way I can describe it is that someone has stabbed it with a hot knife, and then just left the knife in there. It seems to feel lesser in the morning, and then gradually get worse as the day goes on. Everyday tasks such as pegging out washing and hoovering seem to cause a flare up, and once the pain is there I can’t seem to do anything at all to relieve it.
My GP has prescribed Naproxyn for the pain but to be honest I find it doesn’t even take the edge off at all. I have visited an osteopath who thought I had three ribs out of alignment at the back, and he manipulated those back into place. The pain has become much worse since then.
I have had an X-ray but this did not show anything relevant. I’ve now been referred for an MRI scan. I’m having physiotherapy but it doesn't seem to be making any difference and I’m not surprised - how can they give treatment when they're not sure what’s wrong!
I have a full range of movement in my back and shoulders, and I have not had any falls or traumas at all. Just wondered if anybody else has experienced this, and for such a length of time?! I am just keen to find out whats wrong so I can begin some treatment and get life back on track! Thanks for your help.
