It all started back on Feb. 2, 2013 when I slipped and fell on the ice while shoveling snow. It has been a long, painful 6 months. The MRI sowed L4-L5 herniated disc. Over the course of the first month the pain traveld from my lower back down my left leg to my foot. I started with chiropractic care 3 days a week for 5 weeks. After 5 weeks the back pain had lessend but the leg and foot pain would not go away. So I went to a physiatrist, who refered me to a pain clinic to get epidural steroid injections. My first injection was May 31st and within 3 weeks I had a total of 3. I was feeling great after the third for about 10 days and then out of nowhere I started to get pins and needles down my left leg and into my foot. I returned to the physiatrist and was at that time refered to a neurosurgeon. After meeting with the surgeon it was apparent to me that surgery was my last resort. So I scheduled the Microdiscectomy surgery. The surgeon said that once he got in the herniated disc was worst than what the MRI had shown and the L4-L5 ligament was torn pretty bad. It also appeared that the disc had been herniated multiple times. So now here I am 5 days post-op. I have been taking muscle relaxers and pain killers, doing everything that I am suppose to be doing and out of nowhere yesterday I started to get pain in my left ankle again. I have read that this can happen but it is very dicouraging. So I am here looking for others to talk to, to help pass the time, and maybe learn something or help someone.
