Recent Dr Visit

I went to appt with an Ortho Surgeon Thursday & he said surgery was not an option. He said since I had already met with another surgeon & the first doctor said surgery was not an option, he didn't see surgery helping me. He did suggest that I go 2 an neurologist for the weakness & numbness thru out my body, but this doctor not be associated with Worker's Comp. I prayed I would get some help but when the company's attorney calls you & tells u that the doctor isn't going to recommend surgery & I should take the settlement I knew help wouldn't come. I learned so much from this site & knew surgery was the next step but the doctors are afraid 2 go against each other. I am getting weaker by the day & losing more strength in arms & legs. I am unable 2 work & have any type of life anymore. My GP is the only help I have found. He has prescribed Norco-10 mg, Baclofen-20 mg & Latvian-0.5 mg. He said I need a nerve study done but that cost is 800.00 & I don't have that. The WC doctors never did any type of testing other than an MRI to help me. I know that something more should be done but WC isnt going to do anything. My daughter is working extra shifts to get me 2 a neurologist close by because we have learned that waiting 2 long with nerves that are impinged will only cause further damage. Keep me in your prayers & thank you for help.

Call workers comp and ask for your case worker .Explain that what has been recommended by a phy is a neurologist. .Tell her you are getting no cooperation from the Phy. that they have ruled surgery out but agree a neurologist is needed. Many forms and approval need to be filled out by a phy office for specialist and it sounds like someone is dropping the ball here. Call your case worker. You will be surprised how much help they can offer
  • doctor for a prescription for an emg. Then you can appeal the decision by the doctors I believe with WC. Do you have a WC attorney? If not, it might be wise to get one to help you navigate your options in regard to your care.
  • Thank u all 4 the encouragement to continue this fight. I had a lawyer but they quit cause I wouldnt settle my case. The case manager has been no help. The company's attorney told me if tsureon didn't say surgery was needed then my case would be closed. No doctor with worker's comp has done anything to help me. They have dropped the ball the entire time. I have lost everything & now I'm losing the use of my arms & legs. My back & neck are useless. My daughter is losing her mind cause this doesn't make any sense 2 her. She doesn't understand how doctors could be so uncaring. My GP is great & has done the most work on me so far but he can only do so much with my finances being limited. Keep me in your prayers.
  • I have a friend who was a claims rep for a work comp ins company. Believe me, it is the insurance company's goal to minimize their $ output. To frustrate you, slow role you, deny you, offer you settlement. You NEED to get another attorney. Ask around for the best. They work on contingency. I'm pretty sure you can get another opinion. If you ask me, you need a neurologist to review your case. Don't settle for peanuts if you feel you are deserving of the surgery and any other compensation for your injury. The lawyer that quit is a LAZY lawyer. He/She just wanted the easy route... for you to settle and he gets his cut and you go away. Shame on them!!! Keep at it.

  • Your are right. I was ready to give up but I am not. First, I will find a way to get the money to go to a neurologist & see if he can find out what is wrong & can help me get better. Next will be my search to find a new lawyer. Again thanks for writing.

But I would request a form for a change of Dr. You have that right. Change your doctor to a neurologist that is listed as a BWC provider. Go to your states WC site and pull up forms
