EMG TEST RESULTS ~ Please can someone tell me what they mean in Laymans terms?
Hi Had EMG Test results back and need to understand them as I am not getting a lot of support from my Surgeon who has made me choose between my back pain or my Kneed pain to treat:-
Motor examination of the right peroneal nerve shows a mild reduction in amplitude of response but otherwise normal. Motor exam of left peroneal nerve shows marked reduction in amplitude of response. Otherwise normal.
Exam of Tibial include F response normal.
Sensory exam of both sural and superficial peroneal nerves is normal and symmetrical.
Constentric needle EMG exam was perfromed in both lower limbs.
Rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, tibialis posterior was sampled: no acute denevation in muscle sample.
Minor chronic partial denervation and reinnervation changes were seen in the form of a few polyphasic units and left right rectus formoris, left tibialis anterior and left vastus lateralis and somewhat reduced interference patterns were seen in left and right tibialis anterior.
an abnormal exam, significant abnormalities are seen in left peroneal motor studies consistent with significant previous radiculpathy.
Chronic denervation changes are seen in both lower limbs consistent with bilateral chronic L3/L4 and left L5 radiculpathy. No acute deneravation changes however.
Any help would be appreciated as I have had previous surgery and not had EMG test in the past but no one seems to be willing to help me with the three prolapsed discs I have at the present moment and I had no problems at all until they POPPED in Nov 12 and I am getting increasing worried about what is happening to me.
Sorry for typos I am not good at spelling.
