I was diagnosed with L4L5 disc herniation from a weight lifting accident. I had left toe numbness, left partial foot drop, and left leg sciatica.
I am in my 7th week and the left toe numbness and partial footdrop has virtually disappeared, but my left shin/ankle still isn't identical in strength with my right. I unfortunately still do have sciatica, though-- but it has gotten much better.
Should I look into an EMG to rule out nerve damage vs. if the disk is still compressing the nerve? Should I even be looking into surgery? I have asked the opinion of 4-5 different doctors and they all have given me different answers. One thinks I should consider shots immediately and that I am indeed a candidate for surgery. And another one after I showed him my partial foot drop said that I definitely was not a candidate and that he was certain that with enough exercise that it would go away.
This has gotten me nervous looking into surgery
