I had been doing pretty good after my 4 level ACDF in January. I would have several good days in a row and then a couple of bad. That changed recently and every day my pain is worse than the last. Based on pain location, I can tell it is probably the vertebrae just under my fusion. I have an appointment next week with my surgeon's PA and I am sure she will be sending me for an MRI.
I am also battling the hospital. I have excellent health insurance (a federal employee's plan). The hospital is insisting I owe an additional $32,000 over what my insurance has reimbursed them. The insurance company says the hospital is marking up my spinal hardware 900%. They were reimbursed twice the medicare rate and will not answer why the overage.
I have spent hours on the phone with both parties and the hospital says bottom line, I owe. I have requested an itemized bill. It will be interesting to see what is on it. If I need further surgery, it may have to be at this same hospital. Damn Thieves!
With the increased pain and associated fatigue and the drama with the hospital I just want to crawl up in a ball somewhere and cry.
4 level ACDF completed on January 3rd.
I developed an infection which required reopening the wound on January17th
Looking forward to life without as much pain!
