I broke my neck two and a half years ago after diving into a shallow swimming pool. As a result, I required an anterior cervical fusion of my C5-C7. In the past couple of months I've started to get neck problems. Occasionally, turning my neck will cause painful twinges in my trapezius muscles. Especially my right side which often times feels like it's on fire and the pain is fairly serious. Sometimes when I wake up I'm unable to move my neck at all for a few minutes.
Secondly, I sometimes have difficulty swallowing or speaking. I can only describe it as my throat locking up. This only happens if my head is slightly tilted; however, I never had this issue before my surgery and recently it has become a little more serious.
I'm only 23 and I'm already having neck problems so I wanted to see if anyone has any advice on preventative measures that might mitigate more neck issues in the future. I really appreciate any help!
