It could very well be nerve pain, which occurs sometimes when the nerve is compressed prior to surgery, then the compression is released, and the nerve starts to transmit/recover from the compression, it can cause a flare up of nerve pain that usually resolves in a few weeks.
There are medications used to treat neuropathic pain if the pain does not subside that help in the meantime.
As far as when you would be released to have sex, or other activities, you really need to discuss those things with your surgeon. Only he can tell you when it is safe to resume those activities.
