a little history 1st its been about 4 yrs since i last made a post or been to this forum....
I suffered a hard parachute landing while in the Army which began the downward spiral of my spine. it took almsot 12 yrs after i got out for the VA to finally give me the option of surgery. I wont get into the less invasive means of relief i tried over that 12 yrs. Sowhen the VA was ready i was given 3 options. Leav it alone, morphene pump or surgery.
I had L4-L5, L5-S1 complete laminectomy and Diskectomy at both levels. 4 titanium cages and Posterolateral fusion with Dynesys (Dynamic Stabilization system) Nearly 5 yrs ago. and had pretty good success. it got rid of all my issues of legs giving out from under me. nearly all pain was gone other then localized back pain. the surgery site always felt tender and was always a nagging pain. but nothing like what i had pre op!
Over the last yr i started to notice some Siatica type pain in my butt (both sides) doctor told me everything looked great on Xrays and bone was growing fine at fusions. said scare tissue and inflamation could be the issues. I also noticed a new issue after standing for long periods of time my inner left theigh would feel numb (but i never really paid it any mine)
last 2 months it has gotton to the point i cant stand more then 5-10 min without loosing the feeling in my inner groin/ thigh area down to inner knee area. so i started to researching the nerves for this area. GREAT! its now looking like L3-L4 issues. so i brought it up to the VA doc and they sent me to have a CT Myelogram. After the procedure i was able to pick up a copy of the findings.
1. SATISFACTORY LUMBAR MYELOGRAM
2. STATUS POST L4-S1 POSTERIOR FIXATION DEVICE
3. SPINAL STENOSIS AND INSTABILITY AT L3-L4 WITH BLANCHING OF THE CORD (WHAT THE HELL IS bLANCHING OF THE CORD)
ALSO IN THE FINDINGS THEY STATE I HAVE A GRADE 1 RETROLISTHESIS OF L3 ON L4
SO FROM THIS SITE I FIGURED L3 IS SLIGHTLY SLIPED BACK ON TO L4?
BUT I CANT FIGURE OUT wth bLOANCHING OF THE CORD IS?
any help would be great. i dont see VA doc for a while. any veteran here knows how they operate!
thanks and god bless
