Went to my Dr today for my first post op visit. He wasn't at that location today so I saw his Nurse Practitioner, Jodi. We talked about the pain that I'm having and she reassured me that it was perfectly normal and could take 4-6 months to be pain free because the nerve was healing. She also stated that if it gets worse or moves to new areas, I should call them right away. She asked to see my incision, so I showed her (I wore stretchy pants for a reason). She said it looked great and that in a few months it would be completely flat and just look like a little light pink or white line. She pressed on it a bit and said that the skin color was great as well and I told her it was just sensitive, but not painful or uncomfortable.
I then asked the questions... When can I drive? And when can I go back to work? She asked what kind of work I did and I explained it to her. Then she asked when did they fill my paperwork (Disability) out for? I told her October 1st. She said that sounded great. That I should take the remaining time to relax and stretch. That I could bend and twist a little, but still no picking anything up below the hips. The weight limit on lifting has been pushed to 20lbs now and I am to be very cautious when twisting and no twisting while holding anything over 3-5lbs.
So I am very happy that I get to return to work, but now I have to hope that there is a job for me to go back to. I called the woman that was my boss and also our HR guy. I left a message for both and now I am just waiting to hear back from someone. I have a note from the Doctor, releasing me to work with a few restrictions. Good news, but also anxious. Will update on the job as soon as I know.
