Hi all,

I have been dealing with horrific sciatica to the point where I am completely disabled. Have been doing decompression therapy and nothing is helping. Today I will be getting my first ESI although I am nervous, not only because it is a new experience but also because of the horror stories I've read on here. However, I remain optimistic that it MAY help me. I will let you know how it all goes and if any of you have a positive experience, I would love to hear it!

  • Hope all goes well with you. Maybe they will be able to help. I had 9 ESIs last year and only found relief for just a few days. I have seen people who have had them and have done very well with them and then some like myself.
5 MRIs since 2010 | Severe DDD throughout entire Lumbar Region | Facet Arthrosis throughout | Spinal Canal Stenosis | Herniation L4/L5 | Broad - Based Bulging L1/L2, L2/3, L3/L4 - but still kicking - just not very high. :)
  • Pretty uneventful. Not too painful just a very strange feeling. He said based on my case he predicts a 75% success. We shall see. I know they take a few days to work..
  • Hi,ive had sciatica on & off for yrs now & I completely understand the pain. The last bad bout I had lasted 12wks & it lead to suicidal thoughts & becoming housebound.Im waiting for an injection also & pretty scared can u give me more info on the procedure etc ??? thanks P.S Im having it done under sedation.

are usually done by the doctor giving you a tiny injection of lidocaine to numb the area where he is going to inject the steroids, and then using a live xray machine called a fluroscopy machine, he locates the area he is going to inject and injects the steroids and lidocaine into the area. It takes just a few minutes from start to finish, and is over before you know it.....
