I need some advice for extremely tight posterior neck muscles that won't release. It's actually tight from mid back to the head. Heating pad helps, but is temporary, so is stretching. Even core strengthening and neck exercises don't really seem to help and often makes the muscles tighter. Other than medication, does anyone out there get relief by a particular therapy or exercise they would like to share. I know that stretches shouldn't be done too long, but I get the most relief when I bend and drop my head forward when sitting and just hang there for several minutes. It seems to stretch the muscles more.
My surgery was 2 and a half years ago and this is the only issue I have left. I really try to do everything I was told and work on posture, core and exercise. I am hopeful that this will get better once I find the right approach to strengthen without straining. Thanks for listening!
