Hey all i just started seeing pain management Oct 1st. Anyway they have me on hydrocodone 5/325 1-2 every 6 hours. I take them as prescribed but have needed 2 for any kind of relief. I am down to 1 pill until tomorrow. I was in the ER the other night for something not related to my back pain but for a possible ulcer. I had gastric bypass in March 2013 and was diagnosed with gastritis very painful. Anyway i guess the ER doctor sent me home with a RX for pain meds but when i looked when i got home it was hydrocodone 5/325 one every 6 hours. SAME exact med that the pain doctor is giving me only he gave me 15 at a time and pain management gave me 20. They know this med is not working for me and i have another appt on Oct 29th to discuss this and possible injection #3. My question is they have not given me automatic refills even though they have called this same med in like 4x now and they told me to continue taking it until my appt the 29th. I have only 1 pill left but i still have my RX from the ER doctor that would obviously take me another couple of days or so. Would i be in trouble from pain management if i fill this for a different reason NOT pain related to the back because it was a different doctor? The ER knew i was seeing pain management and where it was and i did tell them they gave me vicoden. So the ER knew. I just don't want to get caught up in something bad considering pain management is closed today. I don't remember signing any contract of any sort then again i don't remember either. Any way i can get around this? My pain is bad at night especially when lying down in bed and 1 pill left until prob the end of tomorrow when the nurses usually call it in is not going to get me through. I don't know why they just didn't do auto refills seeing how they keep calling in the same refill for me. It's a pain having to call every time i run out. If i fill this how does this work? Do i need to call and make them aware i filled it or no?
