This is not meant to scare anyone or to say your situation will be like mine, its more meant to just tell you that you should stand up to your dr and tell them what you want - you are paying them. If they wont help, find a new dr until one will.
I had my first baby 9 weeks ago and started having sever lower back/leg pain and at the time they chalked it up to the baby...said it would pass after delivery. It did not. I spent the next 9 weeks going to several dr's, PT, chiropractors, etc. Not one ever ordered a test, xray, mri, nothing. Meanwhile all this time im in excrutiating pain...spending my nights and days crying in bed because i couldnt walk to the bathroom. My husband now became the caregiver for our newborn as i could barely lift him. I cant begin to tell you how miserable this whole time was. I asked 3 different drs to order an mri so we could see the actual problem...everytime to be told a new excuse.... "trust your PT, they will help", meanwhile the PT is telling me "ask your dr for an mri, we cant really treat you thuroughly without a diagnosis, we think its this or maybe that....not sure"
next dr "well its probably just a bulged disc, we dont need an mri to see that, just try steroid shots and more PT"
finally after all this i literally got into an argument with the last dr demanding they order an mri because i cant continue living this way - did i mention he refused to give me pain meds as "tylenol should work just fine" i was this close to telling him to go.
long story short, got my mri and his officed called me back immediately saying i needed to see a surgeon ASAP. talked to surgeons office and they had me come in a few days later and scheduled me for surgery 3 days later. surgeon said my entire disc had herniated out and was causing a very severe case of spinal stenosis. he actually said "im surprised you are not having any urinary or bowel problems right now honestly"
like i said, the point is, only you know your body and only you know when something is wrong. demand help....dont settle for excuses and guesses....
