My mom is 80 years old with spinal stenosis in the lumbar area.
She has deteriorated in the last year and tomorrow trying a procedure to deaden the nerve.
She is at the point that prescription pain medications provide no relief and becoming unable to move.
I am just starting to learn our options and if this procedure doesn't help I fear surgery is our only option. I believe decompressing the spine is the procedure to explore.
My concern is the relation of obesity and this type of back surgery. My mom is at least 70 pounds overweight. She lost 40 pounds for knee surgery but put it all back on.
Is being overweight an issue for this type of surgery?
