So I am at day 13 after my microdiscectomy. I am def better than I was before surgery and even a week ago, however i feel like im still progressing alot slower than other people ive read. I increase my walking everyday by 1 min per session. So at first i walked for 5 min 4 times a day, next day 6 min 4 times a day and so on. Im now up to about 10 min but i still get pretty intense muscle spasm/cramp sorta pain in both of my glutes and some in my thighs...only towards the end of walking. Ive actually been stuck at walking 10 min for the past 4 days because if i go past it it HURTS!
My dr says its normal and to keep walking but i was just wondering if others have had this.
THe one thing i have noticed is the pain seems to keep getting higher up or retreating up my leg. It used to be from my back to the tips of my toes and half my foot and calf were numb. My leg constantly felt like it was on fire. Not my foot is probably 90% better, my calfs dont really hurt but sometimes get musles twitches....
anyways just wondering if this is "normal" I also get these super sore muscle feelings up the side of my back too..like toward my upper back. never had that before.
i just cant wait to get to walking outside (im still walking up and down my hallway - i want to save outside for when i can go longer than 10 min because we have lots of stairs to get outside).... i just read all these people saying they are up to 3 miles a day! Im still at 1/4 mile =/
also i thought for sure id get start PT after 3-4 weeks but my dr says to wait until 6 weeks... i feel like thats doing more harm them good. but then he tells me its ok to lift my 15 lb baby now, but in the same sentence says "dont bend lift or twist tho" conflicting info????
