On goin back pain

Hello I am new here and hoping to find some answers so any input would be greatly appreciated. Here is a little back ground. 2 weeks ago I was working out doing leg raises and when my legs got above the rest of my body I felt and heard a deep pop I the mid to upper back portion of my back. There was no Liam right away so I didn't think much about it. Later that night I had severe pain under my right collar bone and in my right shoulder. The next day I woke up and had pain in my mid to upper back that worsened throughout the day and only gets better when I lay down. B the 3rd day of this I noticed my right shoulder is now lower then my left. I decided to go to the doctors where he told me that I threw my back out. He cracked my back and it gave me relief but only for an hr then I was rich back to where I started. A week later I was still havi g the same pain and my pinky finger has been going numb. I went back and say a different doctor and she told me I have really bad muscle spasms throughout my whole upper right side of my back. She did a "release" technic in which she pussed on a few spasms to release them and gave me bio-freeze. (I have also been prescribed muscle relaxers since the first doctors visit.) it has been another week and there has been no relief and now I have a fever I go along with the back pain. Any suggestions as to what this may be?

  • We really have no way of knowing what might be causing the problems you are having. It might be worthwhile seeing a board certified ortho or neurosurgeon for a consult to see if they also believe that it might be muscle related.
Unfortunately, a primary care doctor is not the best suited for figuring out what might be causing the neck pain you are having.
    Good luck,
  • Hi, I don't know what would be causing you fever, only get a fever if you are fighting an infection? It may be unrelated. Has your doctor put you on any kind of steroids yet? What kind of muscle relaxers are you on and how often are you taking them? I woke up almost 2 months ago with neck pain that is radiating down my shoulder to my fingers too, all but my pinky. I have done lots of research and you pinky is controlled by a seperate nerve as with your two middle fingers are a seperate nerve and your pointer finger and your thumb. I am getting ready to go to my 3rd different doctor because they just aren't helping me with my pain, they just tell me to take the muscle relaxers and it will get better. The doctor I am going to see tomorrow is a pain management doctor, she can give me shots in my back to help relieve the pain. Anyway, I was just taking flexeril for my muscle spasms at night, but it wasn't helping for the day, I requested something that I can take with it for during the day something that doesn't knock me out, he gave me robaxin, it actually did help with the muscle spasms for during the day too but the numbness and tingling was still there and I still have the pain, just not as many muscle spasms. Maybe you should talk with your doctor to give you something different or find another doctor that is going to help. I am hoping that the thrird time is a charm for me!!! good luck
