Unsolved Back Pain

Hello all! I am new to this site. While I do not suffer from back pain, one of my very best friends does. He is currently 18 years of age, and before the pain started he was involved in sports and many other activities at my school. The following is a direct quote from him: "Very sharp pain around my lower back anywhere from 3L to 6L but the pain is bad enough that it feels like it radiates up my back and across my hips, it hurts to use any of the muscles in my back or any of my abdominals. When I stand up it's more of a tearing pain though, and it's much more painful. Normally it causes me to have headaches that last a few hours each day." After asking him about testing he said "I have had every test ran that you can have run, and they have all come back negative."

This is all very frustrating. It was sometime in late August or early September that this all started. At first, the pain was bearable and he continued coming to school. It has gotten progressively worse. Now, my friend who is a Senior in high school is confined to wheel chair because it has become impossible for him to stand or walk due to the pain. He has missed several days of school, and many senior activities due to this chronic problem.

It is my hope that someone on this website might be familiar with this problem and can offer some sort of help. We are desperately looking for an answer.

I hope I will get more beneficial information from here regarding back pain issues; I am an executive working in a private firm; my working hours are 8 to 10 per day; in most of the occasion it will exceed more than it. So while sitting in front of computer in between 8 to 10 hours per day; slowly I am suffering from back pain problems; it really troubles a lot at regular intervals. Therefore I need positive solution as I am in the beginning of my career so doesn't want to spoil through back pain. I really expect some more solution from here; I used to visit experts and do physiotherapy exercises but still not satisfied with this.
  • I had the lower back ablation done one month ago. It has given me no relief at all. I wasn't expecting it to be gone but I was hoping for it to be a little better by now. No such luck. I would like to know if anyone else waited a long time to experience relief or if this is it for me.
