I can't find much info about this. I have been set up for a diagnostic ESI of c4-5 through an interventional radiologist. The spine ortho wants it directly on my c5 nerve root, he wants to confirm nerve compression. Since this area is in the cervical plexus, it is not typically done by Pain Management. had 6 cESIs (5 beneficial) without any issue, but this one scares me.

  • they go in through the side of you neck, using the CT to guide the needle so they don't nick your artery. They use a different (more pure) steroid. Ouch for about 24 hours, Feeling a bit better 2 days out...up to tutoring my first graders this morning.
  • All my other shots had been from the back with the exception of facet joint injection which also go in sideways but your lying on your side for those., I had one steroid injection where I was laying face up and he came from the side. from an anxiety issue that was the worst. Didn't do much for me but hopefully it helps you.

  • No needle in the neck is fun, but seeing them come at you does bring it to a different level. It has been somewhat helpful.
