My husband had a spinal fusion in 2006. He is dealing with increasing chronic pain. We have read about some doctors offering patients a Lidocaine injection at the hardware site to see if the hardware is the culprit for he severe pain. We live in the Philadelphia area and can not find a doctor who will consider this procedure to diagnosis source of pain. Ultimately, we would hope that if the lidocaine injections around the instrumentation would show that the pain results from hardware - we could consider hardware removal. I would appreciate any information if someone on the forum knows a facility, hospital, clinician or doctor that does this type of procedure.
