chronic neck pain

Hi all. New to this not to pain though. I have degeneration of c4 to c7 and waiting on yet another MRI. I'm 44 and this as been ongoing since I was 19. i've tried allsort's. from epidurals, tens machines, painkilers and just had my first course of facet joint injections aweek ago. And still in pain. I moved county's and now seeing a new pain consultant. My hospital notes have gone a stray. so he does know any thing of my history with my neck pain and treatments. I've been on sick now for 5 weeks and it looks like it could be long term, which i'm not happy with. The pain is extremely bad. The pain is anything from not been able to turn my head, pain in my hands arms shoulders and now my chest and hips. when i go to gp they dont seem to understand the level of pain and just wants to keep pumping drugs into me. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

  • Hi - I have had a similar experience that you have had. Does the pain cause numbness in your arm and hand? I have the radicular pain as well. When it was at it's worst I couldn't imagine living with it. I went back to my doctor and he up'd my dosage of lyrica as the perks didn't even touch it. I went from 2 lyrica a day to 6. It finally took the edge off. I had a double acdf c5-c7 back in Feb. to avoid any further progression of paralysis. Unfortunately, unlike so many success stories it didn't take my symptoms away. I too have severe lower back pain and chest pain as well. I think this all part of a bigger picture that we haven't figured out yet. Good luck and hope you fell better.
