I am a 49 year old male who had a 2 level ACDF last week. This was done to alleviate 4 years of pain due to left sided severe foraminal stenosis. For the first 3 1/2 years, I could manage with pain meds and muscle relaxers but a few years ago, the muscle spasms became chronic and unbearable. I was no longer able to play tennis, lift weights or do yoga without significant pain. After the surgery, all the left sided pain is gone which is great. My surgeon was apparently very confident with his work because he gave me some meds but said I shouldn't need them-he was wrong. The incision site is still quite painful and swallowing and talking is still a challenge. My only complaint is that I get tired very easily. I have been walking the dogs for the last few days and after about 15 minutes I am worn out. I would like to hear from others about when I can expect my stamina to improve and when I can look forward to returning to the gym and the tennis courts.
