Discouraged after acdf

I am becoming discouraged with my recovery from ACDF at C 5-6 and C6-7 with titanium plate. Coming up on 4 months post-op and have started to have pain and discomfort on the back of neck at C-7, with swelling. Had a flare up of this about a month ago , had xrays at GP office that showed good progress, no problems. Swelling got a little better, but never actually went away. Now swelling and pain are back full force. NS is 2 hours away and wants to review my films from last month and get back with me on what we need to do. I had to revert back to Lortab to sleep last night. Taking Ibuprofen at work today and just trying to get through the day so I can go home take half a lortab and be a couch potato with a heating pad...:(

  • Stay positive hopefully your NS sees no damage on new films. I had pain in my lower neck for 2 months after my ACDF on C5C6. My job was the cause of my pain because I hung clothes all day at work. Hope you feel better soon.
